Pau Cubarsi was present alongside Hansi Flick for the press conference ahead of Barcelona's Champions League last 16 first-leg clash at Benfica on Wednesday night. The youngster confessed his desire to win the competition, while also highlighting the importance of making the most of these moments.
"I've always wanted to make my debut with this club and win the biggest trophies. As a 'Cule' it's one of my aims. I want to win the Champions League, but it is also important to live in the moment. If we go through against Benfica, the door will be open for us," he said.
Cubarsi insisted that competing at the highest level should also be the target for a club of Barcelona's calibre. "Barca has to compete for every title. Every match is different and it can get complicated, so we have to take it step by step," the 18-year-old centre-back told reporters.
That said, he recognised that Benfica will be hard to take on. "Playing in this stadium is very difficult, we saw it in the league phase. They played well and this time we have to be wary when they attack. We have to be on top of our game and limit the amount of chance they created," added Cubarsi.
