Ahead of Manchester City's opening game in the Champions League against Inter Milan, Pep Guardiola has spoken about Erling Haaland, admitting he is surprised by the Norwegian's form, who cannot seem to stop scoring.
Haaland joined the Citizens in 2022 from Borussiam Dortmund, counting 99 goals in 103 appearences for the club in just over two years. With his next goal, the striker will officially hit the century mark.
On the goalscoring machine's form, Pep Guardiola said: "Am I surprised? A little bit, yeah. I don't expect him to score three, two goals every game. At the moment it is going to happen. I know the quality is there but I think the difference from last season is that he feels good, with no problems."
The Man City manager further joked on his goal tally as a player, compared to that of Erling Haaland. "I scored 11 goals in 11 years, he scored nine goals in four games," he added.
Erling Haaland will now fancy his chances to reach 100 goals in the clash against Inter Milan. Should he succeed, he will become the fastest player to reach 100 goals, breaking Cristiano Ronaldo's record, who hit 100 in 105 games.
