Real Madrid will be playing for top spot on the last matchday of the Champions League group stage after losing in Germany to RB Leipzig in the fifth game. A win against Celtic gives 'Los Blancos' top spot regardless of the result of the other game.
Before the game, Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in the press room and analysed the situation of the 'Merengues': "It's an important game, we know that. We have a chance to finish top of the group. We're playing against a team that tends to play very intensely, but we're well prepared. We want to show our best level again and we have all the conditions to do it: our stadium, Champions League night... I think we'll be able to get the best out of them".
"Asensio's penalty? I have to clarify this issue, because it's not very clear. It is clear that I have been denounced for what I said. An invented penalty, in Italy, means 'rigore penalti', that they have given a penalty that wasn't a penalty. There is no bad faith or accusation against a referee, because I have never disrespected a referee," he said about his comments on the penalty in the last game.
"I can get a four-match ban. After 1,200 games on the bench, I'm not going to spoil the statistics either. That said, the problem is still alive. For me it was not a penalty, not because of my personal opinion, but because of what was explained to us at the beginning of the season. When it's not clear or it's doubtful, you don't award a penalty. If they have changed the rule, let them say so. Nobody is infallible," he added about his possible sanction.
