At the end of the deadline set by the electoral board for the presentation of candidatures for the presidency of Real Madrid, with no other candidatures leading to elections, Florentino Perez, the only candidate, has been re-elected president of the club for a new mandate, his seventh, until 2029. On 7th January, Florentino Perez requested the opening of the procedure to call elections for president and board of directors.
Ten days later, the documentation of the only candidacy, that of the current president, was approved, with a written presentation, the list of the members that make up the candidacy and the electoral programme without the need for a bank guarantee, as established in article 40, section C, point 5 of Real Madrid's articles of association.
This is Florentino Perez's fifth consecutive term in office without the existence of any opposition to formally present a candidacy, the seventh for the 77-year-old engineer and businessman from Madrid, who has had no rival since 2009, when he began his second spell as president of the club after three and a half years away from football.
Real Madrid made official, on Sunday, the minutes of the electoral board with which it certifies the absence of candidates and the application of point 2 of section E of article 40 of the club's articles of association, with which it will proclaim Florentino Perez president once again. Perez's board of directors will be formed by the vice-presidents Eduardo Fernandez de Blas, Pedro Lopez Jimenez, Enrique Sanchez Gonzalez and Enrique Perez Rodriguez.
