Real Madrid right-back Lucas Vazquez highlighted his team's reaction in extra time against Celta Vigo (5-2) to win and “fulfill the objective” of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey and, at the same time, was confident that they will “achieve great things” this season.
“Whenever we play in front of our fans it's a boost because they always push us. The relationship between team and fans is very important for the rest of the season and I think we are going to achieve great things,” he said on ‘Real Madrid TV’.
“In extra time, the team showed its spirit and a good version of itself again. Maybe in that moment we have found good transitions and good moments in attack. Endrick has been very good and the victory is important; we have fulfilled the goal of qualifying,” he analysed.
Lucas Vazquez highlighted both Endrick, a substitute who scored a brace in extra time, and the rest of the players who came on as substitutes.
“They show the quality of this squad. There were changes from the last game and the team played well for most of the match. Whoever comes out, the players perform,” he said.
Finally, he expressed his complaint about the match schedules. “We have talked about it several times. The schedules are being a bit difficult. We have played 80-90% of the games at 21:00. Today at 21:30 and extra time, we play on Sunday at 16:15... We have to keep an eye on this because for the good of football, of the show and of the players we have to take care of rest, which is very important,” he concluded.
