Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Mendes were involved in one of the biggest divorces in world football. The Portuguese, who considered his compatriot as his second father, has parted company with him after an argument following his controversial departure from Man Utd.
Let us not forget that the Portuguese's departure from Man Utd came about as a result of the interview he gave to Piers Morgan. He said that the club and Ten Hag had "betrayed" him.
Once his departure had been confirmed, CR7 asked Mendes, according to 'El Mundo' to get him a move to Chelsea or Bayern Munich. "Either you get me Chelsea or Bayern or we're splitting up," the striker reportedly told him.
However, the agent was unable to get what his compatriot asked of him because the footballer had a large salary and put in a series of demands. "You're crazy," Mendes told the former Man Utd man.
As he did not have attractive offers to stay in Europe, Cristiano did not hesitate in accepting Al-Nassr's offer. They were offering him a contract of 200 million euros a season.
The relationship between Mendes and the number 7 started to break down the moment he left Real Madrid. "Stay here you'll be protected. If you leave, you'll be worse," the agent told the player who was obsessed with earning the same as Messi.
And time proved Mendes right. Cristiano, a legend at Real Madrid, was not the same after leaving Juventus and then Man Utd. Finally, the Portuguese ended up in Saudi Arabia, where he hopes to keep on boosting his goalscoring tallies.
