On the 28th of October, at the Theatre du Chalet in Paris, FIFA and 'France Football' will announce the winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or. Vinicius Junior is the favourite to take home the award after an impressive season with Real Madrid, in which the Brazilian contributed to the La Liga and Champions League wins. However, Manchester City midfielder Rodri emerged as a serious contender in the latter half of the season following his Premier League, and more importantly, Euro 2024 victories under Pep Guardiola and De la Fuente.
Ederson, who is teammates with both playes - at City with Rodri and in the Brazil national team with Vinicius Jr - has revealed who he would hand the award to. From his pick, it is evident that the Citizen is very much attached to his roots.
“I support both Vinicius and Rodri. Whoever wins it will deserve it," he told 'TNT Sports'. “But I hope Vinicius wins the Ballon d’Or. He deserves it for everything he did last season. On the other hand if Rodri wins I'll be happy as well".
That said, the goalkeeper also revealed that he is not aware of what the voting system is based on to elect a winner. "I don't know how voting works. I don't know what counts the most, the season, the trophies, the number of goals, the assists...".
