Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund are looking for a new coach after confirming the departure of Nuri Sahin on Wednesday. The German outfit had been keeping an eye on the coaching market for some time before the Turkish coach's possible sacking, which became a reality after another Champions League defeat for the Germans.
The latest reports in England point to an approach from the Signal Iduna Park outfit for Erik ten Hag. ‘The Sun’ reports that he is the best placed to lead the German team, although in Germany there are several media outlets that are not so sure. What is certain is that, despite the bad taste he left in his mouth at Manchester United, Ten Hag would fit perfectly in a team that puts attacking play before anything else.
Of course, Ten Hag is not the only contender for the prestigious job, which, it should be remembered, is that of the reigning Champions League runners-up. Former Benfica coach Roger Schmidt is also in the race, although he has expressed a preference for taking charge of a team early in the season rather than once it has begun. Sandro Wagner, a former player and assistant coach since his retirement, is also among the possible candidates for Borussia Dortmund, as is former Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer.
Ten Hag, who was an outstanding coach at Ajax before joining Manchester United, left the Red Devils with an overall record of 128 games, 70 wins, 23 draws and 35 defeats. The English team won 54.69% of the matches, drew 17.97% and lost 27.34%. In terms of scoring, Ten Hag's Manchester United scored 217 goals (1.7 per game) and conceded 165 goals (1.3 per game).
