Barcelona defender Jules Kounde stressed, after winning the Spanish Super Cup with a 5-2 thrashing of Real Madrid, that the team applied the game plan “very well” against 'Los Blancos'.
“We have applied our plan perfectly, as we did at the Bernabeu. Despite the first goal, we knew we would win. We know that this is a team that you can't let them press, because if you leave them spaces, it gets complicated,” he analyzed at the conclusion of the match.
Kounde said he was “happy and proud” of the team, recalling that “it had been a season” since they had won a title, “and we have achieved it, moreover, in a 'Clasico' against Real Madrid”.
The French full-back highlighted, on the other hand, the management they made of the match after the sending-off of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and Rodrygo's subsequent goal, in the last half hour of the match.
“I think we have learned. Not long ago, we had the lead and (with one down) it was very difficult for us. After the sending-off, we got together and told ourselves that we had to suffer and be a lot further back, but that we were several goals ahead and we couldn't let it slip away,” he explained.
