National team coach Luis de la Fuente declared that Madrid's Raul Asencio has earned "like many others" to go to the Spanish national team and that "all good players have options to come".
"All Spanish players have options, we are in a critical moment, I say critical because unfortunately there can always be inconveniences in the form of injuries or some setback, but all good players have the doors to the national team open to them. Like many, of course he has earned to go with the national team," said De La Fuente.
The Spain coach also referred to Isco Alarcon, star of Betis' win over Madrid last Saturday, and whether he is among the possible candidates to be called up: “He has always been, even when he has been injured, because as you know I have the healthy habit of talking to players when they are injured, but now he is in a great moment,” he said.
"There are setbacks, there are injuries, which are the ugly side of football, but you have to overcome them and know how to live with them, being fortunate that in Spain there are so many good players and so many to choose from that they make it very easy for me," he added.
In addition, on Tuesday's match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League, he said: "We are going to see a great spectacle".
"We're going to see a great spectacle, I'm a football lover and I want to see a spectacle on a par with the match it means," he said.
