Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea will referee next Saturday's Barcelona-Atletico Madrid match on matchday 18 of La Liga EA Sports, with Galician referee Javier Iglesias Villanueva acting as VAR.
It will be the first La Liga clash between Barca and Atletico that De Burgos Bengoetxea (Bilbao, 1986) will referee, as he has only refereed one clash between the two teams and that was in the Copa del Rey, in the first leg of the semi-finals of the 2016-2017 season in Madrid's ground, which was won by the Azulgranas (1-2).
He has refereed Barcelona 29 times, with 24 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses, and Atletico 32 times, with 22 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats for the Rojiblancos.
The Technical Committee of Referees of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed the matchday appointments on Thursday, in which Isidro Diaz de Mera Escuderos, of the Castilla La Mancha Committee, will referee Real Madrid-Sevilla on Sunday 22, with the Balearic Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez on the VAR
