Clement Turpin to referee Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
UEFA has announced who will referee the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. French referee Clement Turpin, who refereed 'Los Blancos' in their last European conquest in Paris, has been chosen.

French referee Clement Turpin, who was in charge of the 2021-22 Champions League final in Paris in which Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0, has been appointed to referee the first leg of the competition's semi-final between Real and Bayern Munich.
Turpin, 41, who has been an international since 2010, was also present for Carlo Ancelotti's side's 3-2 away win over Napoli in the group stage. In addition to those two matches, the Spanish side have always won with him on the pitch.
Also in the 2021-22 season, he was in charge of the first leg of Real Madrid's 3-1 quarter-final win over Chelsea in the quarter-finals. He was also responsible for Real Madrid-Inter in 2020-21 (3-2); Roma-Real Madrid in 2018-19 (0-2); and Real Madrid-Ludogorets in 2014-15 (4-0).
As for Bayern Munich, he has refereed them eight times. The first was in the group stage against Atletico Madrid in the 2016-17 season, a 1-0 win. He then watched the Germans draw 3-3 away to Ajax in 2018-2019.
In 2019-20, he was involved in two of Bayern's away games against English sides, a 7-2 win over Totteham in the opening round and a 3-0 win over Chelsea in the last 16. In 2020-21, he refereed again against Atletico in Madrid (1-1); in 2021-22, against RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 (7-1); and, in 2022-2023, against Inter in Milan in their group (0-2) and against Manchester City at home in the quarter-finals (1-1). The overall record is 5 wins and 3 draws.
The rest of Turpin's career includes, among others, the final of the 2020-21 Europa League between Villarreal and Manchester United; 3 matches in the 2022 World Cup, including the round of 16 between Brazil and South Korea, and 2 in the 2018 World Cup; 2 in Euro 2016 and 2 in 2020; and the fight for third and fourth place in the 2022 Club World Cup between Al-Hilal and Al Ahly.
On this occasion, he will be assisted on the sidelines by Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages; with Jerome Brisard in charge of the VAR; all of them French. The fourth official will be Swiss Sandro Scharer.
