The Premier League champions' 32-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end following a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday. It was City's second successive defeat across all competitions, as defending duo Ruben Dias and John Stones were not present to help their squad.
Pep Guardiola issued a worrying injury update as he spoke ahead of the match. The Spaniard revealed that Ruben Dias is set to be sidelined until at least after the November international break. The City boss also confirmed that the Portugal international has sustained a ‘muscular issue’ which will see him missing out on the away trips against Sporting in the Champions League and Brighton in the Premier League.
Bad news accumulate for the Citizens as Pep confirms John Stones has an issue to his feet. “I don’t know if he’ll be back for the next two games,” Guardiola admitted. “John and Ruben will be out for a little bit long time," he added during his press conference ahead of the Bournemouth game.
With the news, Dias and Stones complete a six-man list of injured players for Manchester City. Alongside the defensive pairing, there are also third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson, Jack Grealish, and long-term absentees Rodri and Oscar Bobb.
