Zenit St. Petersburg announced the signing of Brazilian striker Luiz Henrique, who played for Botafogo and was named the best player in America last year.
Henrique, 24, who had played for Betis two seasons ago, has signed a four-year contract with the Russian champions, with a further optional year.
Zenit, who are now second in the Russian league behind Krasnodar, are reported to have paid 33 million for the player, who scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 55 games for the Rio de Janeiro outfit.
According to ‘L'Equipe’, the money will go entirely to the coffers of Olympique Lyon. The French club is also owned by Eagle Football, so they share the same owner. Thus, the French side will reach the 175 million euros demanded and avoid their administrative relegation. The Brazilian joined the Russian team's training camp in Qatar, where he underwent a medical.
