Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday became the 20th club to qualify for the first edition of the new Club World Cup, to be played in the United States in 2025, thanks to RB Leipzig's elimination at the hands of Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.
RB Leipzig are out of the competition after failing to match Borussia Dortmund's qualifying score and, with Bayern Munich already qualified, the two vacant places for German teams are already filled, FIFA reports.
The new 32-team competition, to be played in the United States in June and July 2025, will feature clubs from each of the six confederations.
With 12 vacant places in the 2025 Club World Cup for European teams, the UEFA Champions League winners of the past three seasons - Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea - have already secured their places.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto and Benfica occupy another five of the places via the UEFA club qualification pathway, based on their performances in the Champions League over the past four seasons, including the current season, FIFA added.

The winners of the current edition of the UEFA Champions League, which concludes with the final in London on 1st June, will take one place, with the next three highest-ranked teams in the qualification pathway joining them in the tournament in the United States.
Should a club win two or more editions of the confederation's top club competition during the period 2021-2024, the qualification pathway will be used to grant access.
A limit of two clubs per country applies to the access list, with an exception in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win the confederation's top club competition during the four-year period.
Following RB Leipzig's elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid in the last 16, Borussia Dortmund have secured at least a place in the tournament through qualification.
