England midfielder Jude Bellingham and Spanish striker Joselu Mato returned to training on the eve of La Liga visit to Mestalla, in a session at Real Madrid's training complex in which they were tested under the watchful eye of Carlo Ancelotti, who will decide whether they are fit to be called up or reserved for the Champions League.
The latest step in the recovery process for Bellingham, who has been injured since 10th February with a sprained ankle, was taken on Friday when the England midfielder began training with the rest of his team-mates.
Despite the pessimism in the Madrid dressing room over the last few hours regarding his participation in La Liga game against Valencia, and with the date of his return set for next Wednesday's European clash against RB Leipzig, Bellingham has made the most of his options and it will be Ancelotti who will decide.
Along with the Englishman, Joselu returned to the group dynamic, with the Madrid coach thus recovering his two top scorers for the season. The Spanish striker is over the discomfort caused by a heavy blow to his right ankle, which caused an oedema and prevented him from playing against Sevilla.
Ancelotti concluded his preparations after a quiet week of work and no matches ahead of the visit to Valencia with a final session in which Thibaut Courtois was seen working alongside his team-mates and the absentees were Brazilian Eder Militao and Austrian David Alaba, who are still recovering from knee injuries.
