According to the latest reports from German outlet 'BILD', Bayern Munich ultras are planning a massive boycott for the away game against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League due to the excessive price of the tickets.
Bayern are scheduled to face the Ukrainian side on the 10th of December at the Veltins Arena, the home to Schalke 04. The match will be played in Germany as UEFA have the responsibility to hold the tie on neutral grounds due conflict in Ukraine and Russia.
The trip to Gelsenkirchen is not a far one for the German fans, however, it looks like not many of them will attend as the same source reports that 36,000 members of the ultras, also known as 'Sudkurve Munchen' have already cancelled their provisional ticker order for the clash.
“Boycott Donetsk away game! Cancel your tickets! Bayern fans, don’t let yourselves be fooled and boycott the away game at Shakhtar Donetsk,” was the message from the group, as per 'BILD'. The deadline to place the order for the match was on November 4th, but the call from the ultras spurred on a last-minute mass withdrawal.
UEFA increased the ticket pricing for that specific Champions League fixture up to 105 euors per seat, which is a significant rise from the 28 euros they charged when Shakhtar Donetsk faced Atalanta earlier on in the tournament.
