Good news for Barcelona as Andreas Christensen is ready to offer his contributions to the team after almost five months on the sidelines due to injury. The defender was given medical clearance after overcoming an Achilles tendon injury, the club confirmed via an official statement on Friday.
"Andreas Christensen can take to the pitch once again, as the Dane has been passed fit after overcoming the left Achilles tendinitis that has seen him miss over four months of competitive action," read a statement from Barca
The 28-year-old was photographed during Friday morning's training session with the rest of the pack and is now expected to be included in Hansi Flick's squad for the upcoming clash against Getafe in La Liga - unless any last-minute surprises arise.
The ex-Chelsea centre-back's return comes at a crucial time for the German boss, who recently lost Inigo Martinez due to injury. With only one match under his belt this season, Christensen will be in contention with Ronald Araujo for a starting place in the backline alongside Pau Cubarsi.
