With Diego Carlos' departure now imminent, Aston Villa have thrown themselves into the market for a centre-back. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Birmingham club have set their sights on Loic Bade from Sevilla to replace the Brazilian, who is set to join Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
Whilst talks have been initiated, 'Relevo' report that an agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached as Sevilla are not willing to go down from their £21m fixed price tag. The same source informs that Villa are looking to seal negotiations with the Spanish side before moving on with contract proposals for the player.
Bade has been previously linked to Roma and also Liverpool, as it was reported that the Reds were beginning to look around for their next Virgil van Dijk. Nevertheless, Villa are now the frontrunners to land the 24-year-old centre-back, who is admired by both Emery and club president Monchi.
Despite Sevilla's struggles this season in La Liga - they sit 13th in the standings - Bade has been showing signs of continuous growth and improvement. His ability to win tackles on the ground and in the air is thought to be compatible with the Premier League's elevated physical demands.
