Even though Ernesto Valverde remained tight lipped when asked about Inigo Martinez, the player's future remains uncertain. In the press conference ahead of the Valencia game at the Mestalla, the Athletic boss only hoped to have his player back soon.
"I see him at this club rather than out of it. He's here with us, we're confident he can recover and help us this season and we hope that the next. What we want is for him to recover, play with us and stay with us," Valverde said.
According to 'Sport', as well as interest from La Liga clubs such as Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery wants him in the Midlands.
The defender is currently sidelined due to injury, but his Athletic Bilbao contract expires on 30th June and he could join any club for free from that date.
