Antony's importance in the Manchester United squad has been diminishing since he arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022. The Dutch winger made almost every start in his first season at Manchester United but only half of his official appearances last season were as a starter.
The Brazilian winger has made just two appearances this season but recently returned to the Mancunian line-up in the impressive 7-0 defeat to Barnsley in the EFL Cup. The former Ajax man showed personality and apart from linking up well with Rashford and Garnacho, managed to score from the penalty spot in the first half.
Erik ten Hag was asked about Antony's playing time at the press conference ahead of the Premier League game against Crystal Palace to which the former Ajax boss said he is happy with the player's response and hopes he earns the right to return to regular starting line-up.
"Every player should give those reactions, same as he had on Tuesday night. You have to train hard, you have to perform in training, you have to earn the right to play, and when the moment is your chance, you have to take them," said the Dutchman.
