Amorim hails Fernandes as vital leader for Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has publicly backed Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes, highlighting the Portuguese player's crucial role in the team's performance.
Amorim highlighted Fernandes' adaptability and influence on the pitch: "Bruno Fernandes is a leader. I trust him, Bruno is so important for us, in any position that he plays."
The manager's comments come after a period of scrutiny following United's recent struggles in the Premier League, where they currently sit in an unfamiliar lower-mid table position.
Amorim particularly emphasised Fernandes' ability to step up during challenging situations, noting, "He is the guy that can, sometimes in the hardest moments, hold the ball and that is really important for the team".
This praise follows recent comments from Bruno Fernandes, in which he defended Amorim's earlier criticism of the team's performance, demonstrating a strong bond between the coach and his captain.
The midfielder had previously revealed that Amorim's honest assessment had motivated him: "To be honest, myself, yes. Because I don't want to see my manager saying certain things about the team. Because I know he doesn't feel that".
