Ruben Amorim has gone from heaven to hell in the space of a few months. The Portuguese coach was one of the trendy coaches at Sporting Lisbon and decided to join Manchester United, where he has caught the negative dynamic of one of the top clubs in the history of Europe.
The Portuguese has been in charge of the Red Devils for 15 games and has only won 5 of them, with 3 draws and 7 defeats in the remaining matches. Against Brighton on 19th January, Manchester United lost yet again at Old Trafford and the 3-1 defeat by Fabian Hurzeler's side sent Amorim into a rage.
According to 'The Athletic', the manager took his frustration out on a TV screen in the United dressing room where the Red Devils have their pre-match tactical talks. His constant fussing damaged the device, which had to be repaired ahead of Rangers' Europa League visit to Old Trafford.
The coach of the historic English club spoke to the media after the defeat and had no qualms about describing his team as "the worst United team in history".
The Portuguese coach's sudden fury contrasts with the calm and affable character he displayed when things went well for him at Sporting Portugal. Rúben Amorim now has several months ahead of him to right the wrongs of a team that has been damaged from the ground up.
