Despite Liverpool's best efforts to keep him at Anfield, Trent Alexander-Arnold looks destined to wear the 'Blancos' outfit next season. Spanish outlet 'Marca' reports that the defender informed the club of his decision to join Real Madrid, who have kept him on their radar for quite some time.
Alexander-Arnold holds great affection for Liverpool but has equally been outspoken about his desire to take on a new challenge. According to the same source, the Englishman, whose contract with Liverpool runs out on June 30 2025, is said to have made this clear to the club.
With the January transfer window opening soon, the 26-year-old will be free to begin negotiations over personal terms with Real Madrid, before officially joining in the summer. The Red also have the option to sell their youth product in the winter market instead of losing him for free in the summer.
However, it is understood that Liverpool would rather finish the campaign with Alexander-Arnold in the team before letting him go as a free agent. This is because the Merseyside club, who sit first in both the Premier League and the Champions League, believe the full-back will aid in their ambition for silverware this season.ç
