Pep Guardiola confirmed after Manchester City's FA Cup last-16 win over Plymouth Argyle that Nathan Ake would be sidelined for a period of time through injury.
The Dutch defender was substituted at half-time in Saturday's cup game and just three days later revealed in a social media post that he had undergone a successful operation on a fractured foot.
The Netherlands international also revealed that it has been an injury that has been “bothering him for months” and that it has been a “frustrating” season for him.
"This has been such a frustrating season for me but I've now had successful surgery on a fracture in my foot which has been bothering me for months and I'm looking positively to the future!," reads the post.
